I have a BES 5.x server and i was curious to know of the best practices to monitor this server. We've had issues of emails delivering and not delivering sometimes due to a variety of different unforeseeable issues. Are there any tools out there to assist in monitoring our BES server? Also, is there a way i can use nagios/zabbix to monitor my BES server or than a simple ping?

I'm using check_blackberry (http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/Email-and-Groupware/Blackberry/check_blackberry-%28Philipp-Deneu%29/details) from P. Deneu, for my BES v5.

A check could look like this:

# 'check_blackberry' command definition
define command{
command_name check_blackberry_BES-Version
command_line $USER1$/check_blackberry -H "yourServer"-C public -Q bes-version -w 1 -c 1
}

# 'check_blackberry' command definition
define command{
command_name check_blackberry_srp
command_line $USER1$/check_blackberry -H "yourServer" -C public -Q srpconnect -w 1 -c 1
}

# 'check_blackberry' command definition
define command{
command_name check_blackberry_pending
command_line $USER1$/check_blackberry -H "yourServer" -C public -Q pending -w 3 -c 10
}
