Need to spec a nice desktop for a Dr.

What would you guys recommend?

The Doc said he wants a 'screaming' system and a printer.  He is an old Win2000 desktop now :-)
He does prefer Dell stuff though..

I am thinking a presicion desktop with one large 24" monitor.

Not sure about a printer though..   Please advice.

Thanks.

Dell does make good stuff and the prices are decent.

I would just say to get something with a least a Intel Core i5 processor and 4-6gb ram. To utilize that much ram you will need to be sure it is a 64 bit OS.

Speaking of OS, is it hooked to a domain? If they are on any type of Active Directory domain, be sure to get Windows 7 Pro or Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thank you.

No Domain.  Just a home desktop.  I think think Win7 Ultimate is a good choice.

He is doing a lot of juicy imaging stuff.  Probably looking at the x-rays and does print outs..  So I think need a nice graphic card.

Just be sure to get something with 1gb of dedicated video memory. I prefer nvidia over ati.

Printers are more difficult. I would say to get a network printer so it is easy to access. Stay away from HP. Their printers are awful.

Canon, Lexmark and Kodak are good.

Yes it will be plugged into the N/gigi router right next to it.  Network printer would be good.

What models are good?

For a b&w laser Dell makes some good fast cheap ones. Color is another story. The last one I got was. 1710 and it still rocks 4 years later. My wife printed 300 page escrow packages on it constantly.

Here is a decent one. My experience with brother has been good. This is a high capacity printer, so it will be able to print a lot of paves quickly.

Sorry for the mobile link. I am on my iPhone right now.
