We test ESXi4.1. It works on most our servers. But.
Now, we are trying to setup S5000PAL intel server platform with ESXi4.1
Does embedded RAID controller supported by ESXi?
How to setup it?

You need to disable the RAID controller and get a RAID controller that is on the HCL.   Get a decent one, especially one with onboard battery for write cache for both performance and prevention of data loss in event of power and sometimes disk drive loss in middle of I/O.

If you installed ESXi 4.1, and it doesn detect your RAID controller, it's likely it's not supported.

Please check out the Hardware Compatbiliy List for supported RAID controllers.

RAID controllers from HP Smart Array, Dell PERC 5/i and 6, and Adaptec RAID controllers are supported.

Let me be more clear.  The RAID controller will NOT work.  ESXi doesn't work with fakeraid controllers, which is what is on the S5000PAL.  A FAKERAID controller is one where the work is done by a device driver, which is the type of RAID that you have.  Consult the HCL at the vmware site to get a controller that vmware supports.
