Windows Update encountered an unknown error

Windows Server 2008 STD SP2 machine.

Going to Control Panel and clicking on Windows Update.

Getting below error
Windows Update
Windows could not search for new updates
An error occured while checking for new updates for your computer.
Error(s) found;
Code 800B010C Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

    Mostly this error is issued by a defective file in the catroot2 folder in windows\system32

    Best shot is to move all files in windows\system32\catroot2 to a new location. (or delete them...)

    Try to run the update after this, it should work then.
