Canon IP4300 Prints black horizontal streaks

My Canon IP4300 prints black horizontal streaks. I always use genuine Canon cartridges and have changed to a brand new one. I had already tried deep cleaning and aligning the print heads. Do I need to buy a new print head? It suddenly happened after I had been using the printer successfully for a couple of years.

That looks like an electrical problem with the black printhead.  You could try removing the cartridge and cleaning the contacts both on the printer and the cartridge with alcohol but I suspect the whole black print assembly will need replacing. If that's the case it would almost certainly be cheaper to get a new printer (or pick up a second-hand IP4300 from eBay).  It's unlikley to be a driver issue as the black and color printing are handled by the same driver components so you'd expect the color bars to be messed up as well as the text.

Can you post a scan of a typical sheet?

Attached are 2 scans: - 1) A scan of an invoice I am trying to print (some items are blacked out), 2) the print head alignment test page. Scan of invoice I am trying to print Test print alignment page

I'll get some Isopropanol to clean the print head with since I replaced the cartridge during troubleshooting.
If this doesn't work I'll try getting second hand IP4300 printer from e-bay. Hopefully it won't have the same problem.

Cleaning with Isopropanol Alchohol hasn't helped. I'll be researching a new printer, so any suggestions on a cheap home printer to print colour photos, proofs, flyers and CDs would be great.

I don't want another IP4300 printer as this is the second lot of problems I've had with it, and I haven't used it heavily. I had ink cartridges not recognised. I'll get something else better hopefully.

I had to spend $20 on Isopropanol alchohol, but at least I'll have it to clean vcr heads (yes I still have one) as I am transferring VHS tapes to DVD. But thanks for the advice. I would rather advice from Expertsexchange  than all the rubbish and time wasters on free sites so thanks guys.

I can't verify it had an electrical problem but it sounds logical.
