Updating GPO on XP SP3 Clients

I am having to use gpupdate /force in order for my clients to update, can anyone help.

Sometimes I have to run this 2 or three times before the client is updated.

I notice on the time that it does not update it syas Applying Comuter Settings and then skips over the part where it says applying security settings.

Any ideas?

    This is normal!
GPOs are refeshed every 90mins or so by default - GPUPDATE/force forces a refresh.

Because some GPOs can't be applied until a user logs off or a computer restarts even using GPUPDATE /force may not result in the update applying until this happens.

Credential Caching often means that a system needs to restart twice before anything happens
