How to implement VPN with L2TP between 2 cisco routers

I want to establish an VPN with L2TP tunnel between two cisco routers.

How to establish the connection & what are the configurations to be made at both the routers.

Refer the image for scenario.

Yes, between Cisco devices the pure IPsec is much better than encapsulation L2TP over IPsec.

I wasn’t able to find a full how-to-guide because the actual implementation of IPsec depends on the router model and IOS but on cisco.com you will find a lot of documents and manuals.

Here is an example of site-to-site IPsec VPN between ASA and IOS router using SDM but you could use the same approach for IOS to IOS IPsec VPN:

You may also try GRE or IP in IP tunneling. There are many configs available, simpler than IPSec. L2TP is oriented to "sessions", Dial-UP for example. You may use it, but I do not recommend it for your scenario.
