We have a volunteer database built in FileMaker Pro 10. We need to extract the photos ONLY for each volunteer, and there are 2960 of them. How can I do this automatically. Please advice! Thanks!

You'll need to create a looping script that goes from record to record and exports the field contents of the Container field that has the photo. You'll need to determine how you wish to name the image using the record ID, the volunteer's name or some combination. Here's what the script will look like:

Go to Record/Request/Page [First]
Loop
   Set Variable [$FilePath; Value:Get(DesktopPath) & "Images/" & TableName::FullName & ".jpg"
   Export Field Contents [TableName::Photo ; "$FilePath"]
   Go to Record/Request/Page [Next; Exit After Last]
End Loop

A few explanatory notes:
The Set Variable declares the the Path and name of the exported file. In this case, I have it being saved to a folder on the Desktop called "Images" and named with the person's name + ".jpg" (assuming all the images are JPEGs)
The $FilePath variable is then used instead of an explicit file name in the Export Field Contents dialog.
The field I've listed as "TableName::FullName" should be exchanged by whatever field or combination of field values and text that you wish to use to name each image. Be aware that each file name should be unique otherwise they will overwrite each other.
If you have more than one contain field on a record, just add additional Set Variable and Export Field Contents values within the loop.

 Set Variable $FilePath
 Export Field Contents using $FilePath variable
 Export script

So far no. The only response I have received is that it DID NOT work. We have another programmer taking a swing at it.

The new programmer will be using a PC and a Mac. He will download the database and then try it.

It scripting solution above should work on both Mac or Windows.

If you are still having a problem, post an example file. If you are using FileMaker Advanced, you can use the script debugger to help identify where the error is occurring. You can also clarify if you are  using multiple images per record, what naming convention you are using to name the exported images and what the file path is to the save location.
