AccessYahooEmaillwithOutllook.

Is it possible to log into my yahoo account or google account server using the outlook client software installed on my PC instead of the WEB. I like to use the clinet feautures instead of limited web ones and it is much faster.

If yes, How can I do that? would the emails download from server to client too.

Yes, you can do this. You will need to setup your Yahoo account in Outlook as a POP3 account. You will need the pop3 server address which you can get from the settings of your Yahoo account. You can use ISP - Internet Service Provider smtp address for sending emails.

In your Yahoo account go to Options > POP and Forwarding > and select Allow Your Yahoo Mail to be POPed.

The Yahoo POP3 Server Address is:  pop.mail.yahoo.com

The Yahoo SMTP Server Address is:  smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Is this available with regular yahoo account? It seems i need to upgrade to mail plus for $20/year if i am correct.

POP & Forwarding

Upgrade to Mail Plus so you can:
download your Yahoo! Mail in an email client, such as Outlook
forward your Yahoo! Mail to a different address

My yahoo mail is UK. Is yours the same? Is there a settings tab anywhere on your account?

I think they block it for US users. Change your locale in Yahoo's setting to either Korea or UK. I have heard alot of people having luck with that.

I dont see "Settings". I see "Options" link for the classic mail account.
I am in the USA but i doubt they would have diff settings for yahoo UK. I thought it was standard but i might be wrong.

This is the top of the email screen.

If you read my previous comment it should be in Options!

In your Yahoo account go to Options > POP and Forwarding > and select Allow Your Yahoo Mail to be POPed.

Telnet on the POP3 Server Address and see can you login. If you can then this will work for you.

Open the command prompt and type:

telnet pop.mail.yahoo.com 110 and then type:
user followed by your user name eg: user joebloggs and press enter and then type pass followed by your password and see does this log you on.

You'll find an account info link if you click on your name in the top left. Here is a walkthough with screen caps.

I am betting that they would give you targeted ads to whichever country you select. Im sure you won't mind.

Let me know if this works for you.

JBond, they intentionally block access to that for US users. They want us to pay for it.

JBond2010Commented:
@ QuietFrank, you may be right but I never had to pay for it! This is why I asked sam15 where is he based.

Yes, i was always used the Options before. But it seems they blocked it for U.S users.

ok, i had the classic email setting so i changed to new setting and was able to change the preferences to Asia settings

However, i only see a place to enter a forwarded email instead of entering the POP3 and SMPTP yahoo servers as described in the article. any ideas why.

You only have support for the web base emails. You will need to add the YPOPs Add-On as it says in the link I provided in my previous comment.

JBond2010Commented:
You can download the YPOP add on from the link below.
