It sounds like the archive pst file has errors. What you need to do is run SCANPST to repair the errors in the file. Do a seach for scanpst.exe and then run this on the archive pst file and hopefully this should resolve the issue.

I have an archive file in my Outlook 2007 which I cannot open. Its about 1.9GB. I have another archive file that is over 7GB which opens up just fine.
