how to move one seconday smtp address to another user in exchange server 2007

Dear friends,
I have exchange server 2007 running under windows 2003 with  windows 2008 R2 Active directory domain, three months back I have created one secondary SMTP address for one of my user, now I want to change this secondary smtp address form him to another user. I have removed the secondary smtp from the old user and I added the secondary smtp to the new user while I am applying ok button I am getting the following error for more details here is attached the picture
ERROR : the proxy address smtp.faxprocurment@mydomain.com is already being used by olduser@mydomain.com please choose another proxy address

seems it needs time... or had you restarted information store service ?

It depends on # noumber of mailbox loaded on the server and  server specs.

I have a server with 150 MB and 8 GB RMA. It takes about 1 min to restart the sotre.

i have 500 users 1 TB HDD, 32 Gb ram if i stop it will affect the users......... without restarting any ideas....

You may need to allow time for AD replication before re-creating the address: REPADMIN /SYNCALL

All the required config you had already done it.

I think it is a time matter to be able to change SMTP address... restating store service will speed up the process... if you dont want to interrupt users ( and it is a fair reason), you  have to wait for server...or wait for another experts inputs here...

Restarting services is not required. It is a matter of AD updates. Make the change on the PDC Emulator and you should be OK. Remove the email address from one, run REPADMIN /SYNCALL and add to another user.
