Server Sizing Tool

I am looking for a server sizing tool for sizing webserver (Apache), database and middleware servers. I have a customer that is building an applicagtion and wants us to size the H/W required to host the server.

Hi, there aren't any reliable / universal tools that will give a credible answer, due to the number of variables in play.

If the application you intend to run already exists, and you have some similar hardware, your best bet it to perform your own Stress / Load test (try jmeter, there are a few videos on youTube to get you started) on a minimal configuration (you can restrict Apache's memory / thread usage in the httpd.conf), work out the maximum throughput using the available resources, then noting the load (CPU), memory, network, tweak a few variables, re-run the test a few times, work out a rough concurrent transaction to memory, cpu and bandwidth, at each layer, then start to multiply up.
