Unable to open VM Consoles

Hello,

All of a sudden, we are unable to open VM console from the VI client.  The error says "virtual machine config file does not exist".

Also, the SAN Storage LUN on which these VMs are residing is showing blank if we browse the datastore, but the servers residing on this LUN are up and running, only console cannot be opened.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Hi,

Did you try to restart your VMWare Server?

Once it comes back try to open a support request and send the related log files to them when requested.

Cheers,
K.

Log into the ESX 3.5 console, and check the vmfs datastore.

Also Restart Network Management Agents on the ESX Server.

That can happen on ESX 3.5 with fiber channel SAN and redundant connections if one of the FC connections goes down. Double check your storage paths to make sure everything is up.
