Win 7 screen resolution on mac

I can;t get good screen resoultion on my mac when I'm in the Windows 7 boot-camp mode. It's showing a generic monitor and even the highest resolution setting looks poor. On the Mac OSX side, everything looks perfect. This is a new imac.

    Have you installed the bootcamp drivers into your win 7 partition using the grey system disc which came with your imac?

    No, I haven't. I tried using the boot camp disk I made when I installed Windows onto my macbook air, but it didn't work, so I guess I need to pursue that.
