Upgrade Watchguard x750e Firmware and WSM

Our Watchguard X750e Firewall is running fireware 10.0 and we want to upgrade to 10.2 and then onto XTM version 11. Our Management Server is running WSM 10.0 also.

The question is, do we upgrade WSM first (the management server software) and then the Firewall's firmware or does it not matter?

I have read quite a lot of info about upgrading from 10.0 to 10.2 and apparently when the upgrade requests for a flash backup to be taken, you must choose NO otherwise the upgrade can fail leaving you with a corrupted firewall (source of this was WG forums and WG themselves in Seattle support)

So I am after an answer to this question preferably from individuals who know about this specific process - upgrading from 10.0 to 10.2 then up to XTM.

It was 6+ months ago when I did mine but I first did the firmware and then the WSM.  I don't think it matters.  I just couldn't connect to the firewall until I updated the WSM.

We've been warned by Watchguard that the upgrade process isn't easy, we're hosting about 200 users and don't have another Firewall in case this upgrade goes wrong.

Was you upgrade smooth?

Encountered no problems.  I did have backups in case things went wrong so I could go back to the previous versions.  I also have the luxury to have significant nightly downtime so users are not affected and do testing.

Oh and I do have an old firewall with the settings still intact from when it was in use :)
