BlackBerry Enterprise software Rollout. COD/ALX how TO?

I have done some reading and when you send applications out via BES it has to be in a ZIP file and contain a COD and ALX file. I tested and successfully rolled out Google Maps to all enterprise phones. The process was simple and worked perfect. The problem I am having is all app world programs are in OTA JAR format.

I tried a simple converter program i found on the web and it was junk and didnt work. Is there a repository of all App World software that is meant for enterprises that come in ALX / COD format do be downloaded somewhere? I cant find it anywhere. How do you get the non-OTA files, and/OR how to you properly convert them into the formats used with BES.

Or is there a way to force AppWorld apps. to a phone without pushing through a software config and COD/ALX files?...
anyone know anything about this?

Hi,

You probably need to contact the vendor to obtain a version you can distribute via this mechanism - it's sort out the licencing issues as well.

I tried that software and it didn't work well. Also appworld has changed to make it so even if you don't have DM you can just plug in and their java application loads the software directly to your blackberry, with no real way to download to be converted anyways.

How are people distributing thirt party apps to devices?

the latest seems to work. now does anyone know how i can get the jar file from the app world? it seems that it ALWAYS needs a device plugged into it when downloading then it just installs it so there is no real way to capture the jar.

also and maybe this is how admins do it (im new to bes) can you just force a app world url to be loaded to the device instead of doing all this work prior? it would be easy if you could say blackberry install application 1, 2 and 3 NOW.... go. and away it goes.

maybe im dreaming..,.
can you make a url from app world forced to install?
thanks, ill take a look. you seem to know your stuff, can you tell me where i can source the JAD/JAR files for app world roll outs? thanks

Works somewhat...
