Email security

What to do when your email contacts have been "broken into" and now someone else is sending emails (with links in the email text) to people in your contacts address book?
Thank you,
Kathy

Ok how do you know they broke into your contacts?

Are they sending emails as you from your computer?  Or did they get a list of your contacts and are sending them spam from someother email address ?

1.  First run malware scans on your computer and change your passwords -- email and computer.

2. http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

3. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/combofix

4. http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html

5. Then change your passwords again if there was  a key logger.

Haven't done it yet. Just need to close this so I can ask another question.

I can't answer the questions above accurately because I haven't tried it yet. A "Not applicable" option would make more sense. I only put "B" because the system forces me to do this to get past it.
