Sharepoint 2007 menus not working in Windows 7 Pro

When a user clicks on a menu drop down arrow in Sharepoint 2007, the menu opens up.  When the user tries to click on an option, nothing happens.  Seems somewhat related to Windows 7 and udpates but not sure.  Also, can't confirm which udpate is causing the problem if this is the case.

check which version of IE you are running. If its a new one than previously installed , try using the compatibility updates.

    also try on
    1. same machine with different login &
        same login on different machine,

this will confirm whether it is a machine specific issue or login specific.

    2. if possible try repairing IE.

I did confirm user was using the same version of IE as me and he couldn't get the menus to work.  I installed Mozilla on his computer and he could get them to work.  I've read about IE8 logic and compatibility view.  I was going to try that too.  I'll let you know.  thanks

the user is running IE 8.0.7600.16385.  When I log onto his computer I cannot access the sharepoint menus.  Running Mozilla on his machine allows me to access the menus.

When this user sits at my computer and uses IE8 the sharepoint menus are working.  They work for me as well.

I tried setting IE8 compatibility view mode for this website but it doesn't change the behavior.

I'm still wondering if this is some kind of update on his machine but all our machines are set to update automatically.  The saga continues
