# 4.1^-3.1 divided by 3.3^3

This is a part of a much larger problem. I think this is where I am getting it wrong. How do I deal with these exponents correctly and then divide? Thanks.

4.1^-3.1 divided by 3.3^3

1/4.1^3.1 / 3.3^3

1/79.365 / 35.937

1/79.365 / 1/35.937

1/2.208

Are you saying the rest of what I did above this last part is correct and all I have to do is what you suggest more near the bottom of this problem? Thanks.

a/b/c = (a/b)/c =

[  a  ]
[ --- ]
[  b  ]
_____
c

Multiply numerator and denominator by b:
[  a  ]
[ --- ] * b
[  b  ]
_____
c * b

a
-----
c*b

= a/ (c*b)

So,
( 1/79.365 ) / 35.937 = 1 / ( 79.365 * 35.937  ) = 1/ 2852.14

(4.1^-3.1) divided by (3.3^3)

(4.1^-3.1)  =  1/ ( 4.1^3.1 )      (good)

4.1^3.1 = 79.365171              (good)

(4.1^-3.1)  = 1/ ( 4.1^3.1 ) = 1/79.365171              (good)

3.3^3 = 35.937                      (good)

( 1/79.365 ) / 35.937             (good)
