I have just bought a synology ds411+ and an apc be700g ups to protect it. I habve a "main pc" with its own ups sai1500 the powerchute business edition finds the smartups no prblem, however, i dont know how to setup the small ups connected to the nas. The nas is connected to the  ups via an rj45 to usb cable supplied by apc.

The nas drive has an option to enable ups BUT its asking for an ip address of the ups server and I dont know what that is or how to find out.

what should i do now?

I am sure someone here must have a similar setup.

When you install  Powerchute you have three components:

The PowerChute Businnes Edition Server gathers information from the Agents. The Agent is running on Synology.

Try to install all component on PC and put IP of this PC in Synology. Using console you can
connect to the server and manage your UPS.

I've not tested this with Synology bus in case of more than one server it works so.

I'l verify this with Synology support.

Please check the version of PowerChute:

You are on the right way. First try to get it working on the PC.
