Mac OSS boot problem

I just have this weird problem starting today. I am trying to turn my MacBook pro on and as soon at startup where you see the apple logo it just stays over there forever without moving any further. Any idea on how can I resolve this issue ?

could be a number of issues but generally when this happens here are my troubleshooting steps:
- reboot and hold CMD+S until a command prompt on a black screen appears
- at the command prompt, type without the quotes "fsck -fy" then press the return key
- if and when the process completes, type "reboot" and press the return key
- as the boot starts, immediately hold "CMD+V"  this will show the kernel boot process
- during this boot process if any errors occur or the process hangs, grab a screenshot with a digital camera post it for us.

One thing to try first:

Do a cold boot while holding down the command-option-p-r key combination until you hear the startup chime a third time, then release those keys and immediately hold down the shift key until you see the rolling wheel.

This suggestion on startup should resolve your problem:

Hold CTRL+OPTION+CMD(All left side) down, while pressing the power button for 5 secs.

I think that is the wrong key combination. Control-option-command-power is "fast shutdown".

You probably meant control-option-shift (all left side) plus power, which resets the SMU, but only on Mac laptops that do not have removable batteries:

Thanks nappy. It took a while to restart the first time. Probably 15 min. Can't bypass from the spinning wheel But once it started i tried your solution and did not see any errors. However, now it restarts just fine. So just curious to see what did cause my MAC to hang on me which is why i had to a hard reset and then the Stuck on spinning wheel occured.

I also can feel that my battery was way too hot. I mean it was like on fire at that time.
