Hello,

I don't understand why this error is returned, I have checked the syntax on the oracle site :

SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE EXAMPLE SHRINK SPACE keep 20M;
ALTER TABLESPACE EXAMPLE SHRINK SPACE keep 20M
                         *
ORA-02142: missing or invalid ALTER TABLESPACE option

Thanks

Regards

is EXAMPLE a temporary tablespace?

From the docs:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_3002.htm

SHRINK SPACE Clause
This clause is valid only for temporary tablespaces
