Prevent Users from installing software

Hello,

I need to set the GPO so that users cannot install software on there machine. I enabled "Disable Windows Installer" . And the user can still install software. The user does not have administrative privledges either. Do you guys have any other suggestions I can try? This is getting frustrating.

FYI the server is Server 2008.

Did you give the users local admin rights? None of my users that are in the domain users group can install software that changes the registry.

Ok, They had local admin rights. I removed that. Now I can't remote into the computer. I get this error "The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login". When i add local administrator back to the member of I can remote in. SO i guess this is another issue.

Thanks

Is there another solution other than Deep Freeze? I don't want to have to purchase something.

I have 200 users and not one problem with people installing software with no third party applications.

I did that. Still getting denied access. What is funny is other computers on the domain under "domain users' i can access remotely. And they are not configured in the remote desktop group
