Setup SQL Server 2008 R2 Setting the Account access

I am setting up the SQL Server 2008 R2 so that we can get Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server Standard installed.
I have several Administrators when I tried to assign the Administrators Group that did not work. What is recommended here if several developers will be accessing Visual Studio 2008 Team Foundation Server Standard through SQL Server 2008 R2..
Are there any preferred practices here.....?
