Looking for a group policy setting for "Offline editing options for document management server files"

Is there a group policy setting that will change the option in Word or Excel (Office12) for "Offline editing options for document management server files" from its default of "The server drafts location on this computer" to "The web server"? We need to control check-out/check-in for our business users.

There is no default GPO setting.  You would need to create your own adm or script the delivery.

I have not tested any of this!!

The registry value where this is stored (it is in the user profile):

Key:    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\Offline\Options
Val:    Local
Data:    0  (DWORD)

You could try creating the value under:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\Offline\Options

... to see if it creates a default for all users.

But if this needs to be enforced, I would create a custom adm based on the HKCU value.  Test changing the  value actually works before going any further.

Hope this helps,
Daz.
