Local files NOT needed with ONE NOTE by MS. True?

Assume that OneNote is installed and working fine with a computer at home and my laptop. I wish to add another laptop. Do I mearly answer the notification email that I send to myself and presto, I am synced?  I do NOT need local files on two of the three computers. Right?
