File attached.  When you have done the cleanup run dcdiag /v on the current DC to make sure all is ok.  if you have any errors please let me know.

The doc relates to Windows 2003 but its same principle with 2008

You need to clean metadata with ntdsutil, of the failed DC then build your new DC.  Make sure Exchange was not pointing to the failed DC.  I can attach a doc if your unsure on how to clean metadata
