Windows Server 2008 - restricting RDP by IP

Medium Priority
Last Modified: 2012-05-11
I am using a hosted virtual Windows Server 2008 to host my web site, so this is the first time that I am managing my own live web server.  I configured it to only allow RDP from two IP addresses and now I need to allow a contractor access.  The problem is that I forgot how I did it and in searching, it appears that maybe what I did was not best practice, so I'm having trouble finding out how to change it.

1. How do I change it to open all IPs to allow the contractor to access
2. What is the "right" way to limit RDP?  Is it safe to simply limit it based on usernames and complex passwords?

the best way is through your router. Just allow the RDP port (default 3389) to be hit by specific ips.
