Hi,

The BES establishes an outgoing connection to the RIM BlackBerry Infrastructure using Port 3101. The device also establishes a connection the BBI.

The BES also establishes a MAPI connection to Exchange using RPC etc. When a new mail is received, Exchange sends BES a UDP notify message which causes the BES to create a new thread (MAPI) to Exchange in order to read information from the users mailbox.

The BES then converts, compresses and encrypts data and sends it to the device.

In addition, the BES will be communicating with the Configuration database using SQL (1433), AD (Kerberos, LDAP etc). If Web Proxies are deployed and MDS-CS configured to use them, there will be some 8080 HTTP Proxy traffic.

Regards,

RobMobility.,

The question could you be best answered by the Service Provider.

If you have a BES, then definitely you will need the BES plan for the mail flow.
