Force page to odd page for duplex printing

Hi,

I have a report, well, a fewbut I'm trying to get one going then hopefully I can get the rest going, that needs to print new groups defined in the report only on odd pages, never starting on an even page (as in on the back of a page) as I print duplex reports and they all go to different locations when distributed.

I have looked on google for around three days now and found numoerous examples:

pagenumber mod 2=0
pagenumber mod 2=1
(Remainder(pagenumber,2)=1)
New Page After, Keep Together, and Reset Page Number After are all checked. In the condition for New Page After I have this formula:
remainder(pagenumber
,2)=0

etc, some say put them in New Page After with/without the actual check box clicked, some say put this in the Supress formula, I've lost count of the amount of examples but all to no avail. They all do however change what I get back but never just printing the group footer I have selected on an odd page at each change point.

Just wondered if anyone here could either explain to me what I'm supposed to do here, help me with an example or tell me if this function simply doesn't work in Crystal Reports 2008.

Any help would be much appreciated, I'm pulling my hair out here!

I can attach the report itself if it's usefull.

My report had around 7-8 groups but the two which are group 3 and 5 are the ones I need to split, these are batches of work within a supermarket and the supermarket itself.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Ken

I forgot to say that I have tried this on the desktop version of Crystal and it doesn't work either but this report I'm trying to get working is using the new .Net plugin so the report can be printed through the web, everything else in the report works perfectly it's just this but this is pretty much the most critical part as it's useless without this feature.

I somewhat understand the issue.

I think what you need is for a group to start on an odd page.

Do you care wherre the group footer is?
Can it be on the last page of the group with a blank page following to ensure the next group starts on an odd page?

DO you need anything printed on the "blank" page?

To get the group header to start on odd pages try this
In the Section Expert
Click the Group Header
Uncheck the NEW PAGE BEFORE option
Click the formula button to the right of NEW PAGE BEFORE
PageNumber Mod 2 = 0

I find that at times the checked option and using a formula seem to conflict.  It may not be true or it may be that some versions cause issues so I either use the check box (want the option all the time) or use the formula button (want the option when the formula is true)

If that doesn't work, if you could upload the report with data, I'll try to get it working.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I don't actually show anything in any of the group footer or headers for that matter, I just use them to split the report in to groups, the data that 'was' in those headers/footers has been deleted and I use them in the page footer just for reference, hence again it having to seperate the info in the details section with each group so the pages refer in the page footer to the correct store number etc.

Let me give what you suggested a go and I'll get back to you, thanks again for your response.

Also, you mentioned 'do I need anything printed on the blank page, that would be great actually, just something like 'END OF STORE/GROUP'

Is this possible? Doesn't matter if not.

Hi,

I tried that, nothing changes, at the bottom of the report I list store number along with other info, CountryCode, CityCode, StoreCode etc, the store code is like this 006, these should all fall on odd pages when they appear as it were. I attached the report in case you can see something I'm doing stupid!!

I think I need to save the report with data too so you can see the results??

I added a second sectionto the group 3 footer and used the new page before and after.  One of them is conditional.
