Users outlook getting stuck when trying to snyc with our exchange server

I've got a laptop user using outlook 2007 who connects to our 2010 exchange server over RPC.  Everything seemed to work okay after he was set up, but about a week later when his outlook client tried to sync with the exchange server it gets stuck when trying to sync the offline address book.  It just hangs there.   I've let it run for 2 hours and it just sits.  I've got other users with Outlook 2007 and 2010 (though the majority of our users are 2003 users) and none of them have reported this problem, which makes me think it isn't an issue with our exchange server but just this one user.  I've tried to wipe his profile from outlook but that didn't help, I've deleted the OAB to no avail, I've tried creating a brand new profile and turning off download OAB from the sync options.

Try turning off Cached mode and see what that does.

If that solves it, I still have a problem.  We need to have those emails cached for a few different reasons.  I will try a sync once with it turned off and see what that does.  Hopefully it will do it and then I can turn it back on.

I've also had a reinstall of Outlook fix issues closely related to this as well so maybe try that too.

Okay I disabled cached mode, still had the OAB problem.  The user is bringing in his install disks and we'll give the reinstall a try.

Still waiting for him to find the disks.

Well I'm giving up at this point.  He doesn't seem to interested to bring his disks in, or can't find them and doesn't want to really get it fixed.

Ive actually had this problem about a month ago and just ended up reinstalling outlook and it fixed it as well. Just forgot about this post. And if its not important to the user then its not important to IT :)

Outlook 2010 handles rpc connections much better as well as OAB....at least in my experience recently.
