asked on

tablet PC battery / charger issues

my computer is having issues with staying on. It's an HP/Compaq tablet, tc4200.

The battery has been getting progressively worse and I always have to keep it plugged in.  While plugged in though often it will flash back and forth between the charger and the battery symbol.  Sometimes when I play around with the  power cord it stays charging.

Now it just starts randomly going into hibernation even when it says its plugged in.

If the battery is kaput will this affect the usage even when plugged in ? That's my assumption, I'm thinking / hoping a new battery will fix it. Right now I can't get it to stay on more than a minute while plugged in.

flubbster, ok, thank you.
it's probably time for a new battery, anyway, it's 5 years old.
Time for a new computer!  Surprised your hard drive lasted this long.  Mine average 18-24months with daily commutes and running 18-24hrs/day.

aleghart, donations welcome ! overall it's running well.

jamietoner, good idea, thanks !
took out battery and it works fine now, just have to be careful not to pull the plug. So time for a new battery (and maybe a new hard drive . . . )
oh, sorry, any recommendations where to buy laptop batteries ? Thanks.
