How to check total traffic on eth interface

How can I check total traffic on specific interface for a specific period?

    You might want to take a look at vnstat.

    If you need something more standard, for a specific period of time you can use sar, for example:

    # sar -n DEV -s 10:00:00 -e 13:00:00

    If you need to use it on another date, you can use -f to specify sar log file.
