Android phone is not removing appointments from calendar

I have an LG Optimus phone with Android version 2.2.2 on it. Very recently, when syncing with our Exchange server, it has stopped removing canceled or declined appointments from the calendar on the phone. I do not see the appointments in Outlook anymore, but they still exist on my phone, prefixed with "Canceled" in the front.

I don't want to see these appointments on my Android calendar. How can I fix this?

Try removing the account from the phone and re-adding it.   Android and exchange don't always play nice together,  i find as an exchange admin i have to do this way more then I should.

OK, I was hoping not to have to do that, but I will give it a shot.
