Removed SBS User Best practice before removal

I was wondering if anyone had any best practices they use when you remove an SBS user account so that if we need to look for a file or an email on the account, we can get to it by a backup.  How do you do it?

Why don't de-activate the account, you will save yourself a lot of trouble
