A botched attempt to load Chrome and subsequent removal then IE 9 forced its way into my system. After some work I have IE 9 working and it is the default browser but I am getting  " This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer ..." whenever I try to open a hyperlink (outlook mostly).   Soloutions anyone?

System restore then change automatic updates to download and notify

From there when it picks up ie9 and you get the shield at the bottom right you can click custom install and untick the box next to IE9 to not install it..

    Accepted Solution

A system restore was not an option I wished to go with.  I solved the problem by using the Microsoft "Fixit" tool.  Alll is well now.  Thx.

I solved the problem myself - some research in other places required 1st, but the solution worked.
