the server that i am working on is an SBS 2008, the server is up and running but most of the services will not start. all of the roles in server management are red with errors, DNS, exchange active directory topology service will not start and points to an RPC problem. I have read some articles that says to restart the service, it is Started but all options are greyed out, i cannot change, stop or start the service. DHCP will not start, it returns error 87.

There have been no programs installed, i looked at updates and nothing was installed yesterday. This problem must have occured last night after 8:pm central time. Some users have received emails until 8:pm.

Well I discovered the problem and now I am one technician short, one of my techs disabled a dcom component to try and eliminate dcom errors. When he finally admitted it and re-enable it everything works fine.
