Can I use Forefront Security for Exchange Server for exchange 2010?

Hi All.

A few simple questions here about forefront - so I will roll them all up into one.

We are testing SBS2011 with Exchange 2010.

Can I use:
Forefront Security for Exchange Server x64 for Exchange 2010

The description states:
Forefront Security for Exchange Server is an on-premise solution that provides protection for Exchange 2007 Edge, Hub and Mailbox server roles

I ask thsi becuse I think Exchange 2007 is virtually the same as 2010 (But I could be wrong)

Also

I have available:
Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 Enterprise x64
Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 Standard x64

Is this for client internet surfing or is it an integrated package for exchange / clients / server - virus, malware and spyware etc.

Perhaps someone could please advise.

Thank you and Regards
Andy

FSE is replaced by Forefront Protection for Exchange 2010 (FPE).
It deals with the mail transports + Stores and scans for spam and malware

Hi Keith.

Sorry I stated the wrong product.

We have
Forefront Security for Exchange Server with Service Pack 1 (x64)

NOT

Forefront Security for Exchange Server x64 for Exchange 2010

so can I use
Forefront Security for Exchange Server with Service Pack 1 (x64)

on exchange 2010?

Yes - just be aware that it is far less configurable (and less efficient) than its replacement, FPE 2010.

Problems using Powershell and Active Directory?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

Thanks Keith.

Can I ask - in what way do you mean - i.e. expand on:
Far less configurable (and less efficient)

In very simple terms, FSE is a fairly blunt instrument. It does things as you would expect in regards to blocking, and using the SCL to place things into the junk folder etcfor the users to make decisions upon blah blah blah. FPE is the next generation of FSE and the user does not even see the spam as FPE blocks it totally or as you configure. FSE works fine, don't get me wrong, and the fact that it comes on the Exchange CD makes it compelling. My point is that you will likely end up on FPE at some stage.....

Ok - cool - undersatand that.

And what about :
Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 Enterprise x64
Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 Standard x64

do you have any experience of these and what they are for?

Thank you.

Sure - this is the replacement for Microsoft's ISA Server. It is a firewall/Proxy Server/Application Gateway. Yes, I have a little experience of this, I have installed quite a few hundred as it is my speciality product.
