How to get Crystal RDC DSR field name from Viewer

I have a VIB6 app that I wrote that uses Crystal v11.5 RDC and displays reports in the Crystal Viewer.

I need to find a method for the end user to select specific fields from the displayed report for use in my routines for formatting the user selected fields. I would like to have the DSR field name (as opposed to the one set in Crystal itself, available as a tooltip for each field. I am already parsing all of the fields in the DSR to set certain formatting properties, I would like to transfer the DSR field name to the tooltip.

At the end of the day, I need to be able to clearly identify a field the user has chosen so that the app can apply formatting that they select to the field. The Crystal name assigned to a field is visible in the viewer with a mouse-over, however a given field may be used in more than a single place in the DSR.

Any suggestions?

I am also having trouble reading the font strikeout property for any fields in the DSR, all other font properties I am able to read.

    Accepted Solution

OK, I figured out how to copy the DSR field name into the ToolTips field. Not an elegant solution, but it works.

Ideally the user could click on a field and the field name would be copied to my VB app to be used.
