I am starting the Database Upgrade Assistant by goint to START-ALL PROGRAMS-CONFIGURATION and MIGRATION TOOLS - DATABASE UPGRADE ASSISTANT.

The tool starts with the welcome screen than the second screen comes up were is asks you to select the database that you want to upgrade........... but I don't get this screen I get another welcome screen and it's blank........ this screen just hangs there not doing nothing. I tried saying next .......nothing......I tried rebooting the server..........same thing.......what's going on here can someone please help me out?  I attached a screenshot ...........

I'd start by checking environment variables to see if there are any differences.

Then check PATH as well to note differences. See if there are alternative versions of Oracle, Java, etc. in the path.

Also try running OUI and see if it can successfully read the Oracle inventory, to list existing Oracle homes.

Hello mrjoltcola sorry for getting back to you so late.  Yes your solution did help I checked the environment variables and sure enough there were many differences. At one time this server was used as a test server so they had installed Oracle 8,9 and so on. All these were inbedded in the path variables .........after cleaning everything up and pointing everything to 10.2.4 guess what DUA came up no problem.
I can't believe it I should have checked this out first.

Thanks for your help have a great day.........
