My boss has the problem when sending mail to some staff "this e-mail message cannot be delivered because the e-mail address is no longer valid".  The solution below fixed it before and again today.  However, the problem returns.  Is there anything else that can be done.

With Outlook 2010 open, click File (BackStage), and then click Options.
Click the Mail tab.
Under Send Messages, click Empty Auto-Complete List.
Outlook will generate a new nickname cache.

    Possible Cause for this issue

    1.   The e-mail account does not exist at the organization the message was sent to.
    2.   This issue may occur if there was a problem when users were moved between sites. For example, if a former Administrative_Group_1 user moves to Administrative_Group_2 and then replies to an old e-mail message, or if the user does not re-create his or her Outlook profile, an old Administrative Group style LegDN address will be used, and an NDR is generated.
    3.    The message was sent to obsolete personal address book entries.
    4.   The categorizer rejected delivery because you configured your SMTP contact with see comment SMTP RFC821 characters.

In your case the problem might be 4th or 5th.

    1. Check if your Boss has any personal contact for the same employee
    2. Before sending the mail to the employee from your Boss outlook double click the User ID and see if it is correctly resolving from the address book or it should some invalid format.
If that is the case then you may to delete the cache or correct the x400 address for this employee in server side

@mpoppe, I've already done this and it works.  The problem is why does it continue to happen?
