Restrict Quickbooks Access by time period

We have need to allow someone outside the organization to access one of our client's Quickbook Enterprise (2008) file.  They really only need to view the records associated with a certain period of time but will need pretty much admin access within that period.  Does anyone know of a way that access to records in the file can be restricted by time period rather than by role?

There is no way to do that in Enterprise

Do you have an old backup from 1/1/2009?

If so, you can restore that backup and then from the
File menu > utilities > clean up
enter a 12/31/2007 date and that should condense the data into
journal entries before that date.
It will not condense open a/R and a/p as of 12/31/07 so the user
will still be able to see those transactions

If this does not work, you can buy utilities to extract the data

I was afraid of that, but the backup / utility path might work for the client.
