Windows 7 - Sound setting displaying on the screen; treble, bass etc

Hello, I have window7 (yeah I know....kidding, I like windows7), but this is my problem.  When I turn the sound volume off, the sound settings, like the treble bar, bass bar, settings keep poping up on the screen.  How could I disable this action when I have the volume off.

You should able to turn the volume off by from "speaker icon" on task bar,  left-click mouse button on the "speaker icon", then will pop up a bar with the volume slider and a speaker icon, move mouse point on the speaker icon will show you "mute", left-click mouse button on the speaker icon, then you can see the speaker icon become a muted speaker icon. hope this is your needs.

Hello navaidfarllqui, yesterday I entered the information you requested.  Then started play with my sound settings.  In the process I rebooted and lost what I had entered for you.
This morning, when booting up the same problem appeared while nothing else was running and this gave me the notion of looking at my processes.  It turns out that the HPToneCtl.exe is causing the problem.  A problem others have reported;
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/HPToneCtl-exe-driving-me-CRAZY/td-p/286090
I going to try a couple of changes to my system, if that does not work, I will type in the information you requested again.  Bye the way I have a Pavilion dv8.  Strangest situation, I went to HP and could not find the dv8 model.

navaidfarooqui: please read my comments above.  I deleted some audio app that I have downloaded, and now it seems I do not have any sound; audacity and IDT Audio Cntrl Panel.
I think the IDT Audio Cntrl Panel might of been one that I need.  And now I can't tell you what driver I had, and these is "No audio device installed."

navaidfarooqui: Thank you for your efforts, this is far beyond what I expected.  You got to hear this; this is the "THIRD" time I type this message.  The first time I lost what I wrote when I flipped my laptop over to look at the model number,  Which is WF681 AV.(I have it memorized now!).  The second time I wrote it all up and clicked on the submit button, only to find out that I did not have an internet connection and lost what I wrote.
So, the System Information shows that I have or use the NVIDIA High Definition Audio for the sound device, status is OK and that the driver is in the system32\drivers folder.  I would think that upon reboot that it would grab this driver.
Once agian thanks for the help.  This time before I click on submit, I will make a copy of what I have written, three times over!

Please read comment above.  I need to add that I deleted the Cyberlink DVD Suite 7.0 in hopes of deleted the CLMLSvc.exe, but it is still there and those annoying treble and bass popup bars continue to show up.  Sure would like to eliminate the popup bars before installing and making operative the sound system.  If I only knew which application is causing this.  I'll close all other apps and look at the task manager to see if it is the HPToneCtl.exe that is processing.

one more thing just before you install it go to control panel -> Program and Features and uninstall anything related to sound software or drivers.... i think nowadays just plain sound drivers (and the software that comes with it by default) plus your suitable player e.g VLC should be enough for High quality audio environment...

navaidfarooqui: Thanks, that was quick.  What would you say if I said that I what to stop the problem before I/we get the sound driver installed.  I checked and the HPToneCtl.exe is the only procese running.  I am assuming that this is what is causing the problem.

nav (for short), I can't get the driver from the ftp site.

navaidfarooquiCommented:
yes ... its the HPToneControl that is causing the problem but i would recommend that you uninstall the whole thing properly rather than just stopping or ending the process... and the drivers are for the part you said you are getting no sound and "No Audio Device Found"

Sorry for I did not read the question carefully while was answering,
On Windows 7, htere is a notification area in control panel, you maybe can try to hide notification there.  however the place includes the installed drivers notification management. I think maybe you can try on there for the audio driver.
I also found a article about this,

Hope I don't missunderstand the question again :-)

nav; I should have thought of this yesterday, of course I had to do some company work yesterday, and could not work on my home computer problem any further.  I down loaded the driver to my company computer and will transfer it over to my home computer tonight.  Thanks, I'll let you know what are the results.  I will delete other application having to do with sound.

nav; sorry for the delay.  I was on travel for the company.  I uploaded the audio driver, it now works.  It might be my mind, but I think the quality of the audio is not what it used to be.  I'll listen to it again tonight.  The other problem I have, is that I inadvertantly uninstalled the Cyber DVD Suite 7 which came with my OS setup.  I uninstalled it, thinking that it was causing the Bass/Treble problem.  Knowing that it was the HPToneCtl.exe that was causing the problem, I found this link to a solution;
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Operating-systems-and-software/HDX16-buttons-in-windows-7/m-p/173460/hi...
I still need to test it some more, but soon I will give you that points.

yes you may find the sound a bit  NORMAL since the settings would be stock right now ... try playing with the sound settings e.g equalizer and bass settings...

I have issued the points on this question.  Have you gotten them?

navaidfarooquiCommented:
yes i have... but its not the points i am concerned... is your issue totally resolved? including the sound quality?
