Verizon iPhone 4 & Microsoft Exchange 2003

One of my users just bought a Verizon Wireless iPhone 4.  We are not using active sync.  IMAP is allowed.  The iphone is able to receive mail just fine but it is unable to send mail.  On the iphone the inbound and outbound mail settings are the same.

Have you enabled the secure password authentication ???disable it in iphone.
