Vista file permissions on workgroup

Hi, i have a small network running as a workgroup. I recently had to replace the "server = cp box" with a vista machine. I am having a problem now with security when the other machines try to access files on this machine from the network. The user keeps having to log on first.
this is a small client and they do not require a formal server. Is there any way to disable the username authentication on the vista box where some shared files need to be accessed by the windows 7 machines?

You can use the credential manager of windows 7 to remember the username and password of the vista's shares.
