Has anyone used cymphonix network composer, Specifically the EX310 for web filtering? They seem very reasonably priced and looks like a very good product. Please let me know your thoughts, pros/cons on it.
Thanks in advance

I'm actually about to demo the product myself.  I've heard great things about it.  I'm just curious how well it does on the malware/AV protection.

when you say demo do you mean you have an actual device that you can mess with? Or just a presentation?

They will send you a unit for 30 days for evaluation purposes.  I haven't received the device yet, so I'll have to keep you updated when I do.

Yes I believe that would be how they would describe it.

Are you going to route all your spoke sites internet through the hub?  That's my dilemma at the moment.  I only have one Cisco ASA, so everything is being hairpinned through the outbound interface.  They never reach the Cypmhonix device.  I've sent an email to Cymphonix asking if it could sit between the ASA and router.  That's the only workaround I see, unless I purchase a second firewall.

Oh I see what you mean. We have a Cisco ASA but then from there we had our main router. The main router was what I was referring to as the hub and spoke. I just put the cymphonix device in between the ASA and router and it works great. I think you can set it up so it doesn't have to be inline but I don't know how.

After using a Demo unit for 30 days here is a quick review.
For starters the customers service is amazing. Everyone is friendly and very knowledgeable. The unit I was using for the demo was the EX310 . This unit is quick and easily integrates with your directory services. It is easy to block categories, URL, File types, and protocols. There is a real time URL monitor that will show you exactly what is being used at that time. Under the reports you can look at reports that are for protocols, catagories, blocked, allowed, viruses, spyware, system reports, etc. They have an online spyware remover that is available to anyone who uses cymphonix. It runs in your web browser. The cost was very inexpensive especially for what you get. I personally have ordered the EX310 for use in our organization. It should be arriving today. I encourage you to check them out. With the demo you can't go wrong.
