file transfer - for windows server 2008

Hello Experts!!!

I need find out a tool that allows me to tranfer all my files from one server to the other (documents) they are many that are with the user policy access.. not everybody has access to all...

I'll really appreciate your suggestions.

Robocopy is probably your best bet. robocopy <source share> <destination share> /MIR will make an exact copy of the file structure at the destination and keep ACLs the same.

Robocopy comes with Windows, BTW. runs in the Command prompt.

Woops. Sorry. robocopy <source> <destination> /MIR /SEC copies the ACL info over :D

You can realistically do it from either, but I'd recommend doing it from the old server.

Actually, run it from the Windows 2008 server, since Robocopy has to be downloaded to use with windows prior to 2008 I think.
