In SharePoint 2010 is there a recommended max number of items MS recommends for a list? I am working on a list which can quickly contain maybe 2000 - 3000 items. Is that to much?

Thank you

Microsoft does not recommend anymore than 30,000,000 items per list.  I would recommend you refer to the SharePoint 2010 Capacity Management website on TechNet.

I would not expect to view more than 2,000 to 5,000 at a time though without paging.  You will hate life.

Thanks for the response. The items in the list will be filtered so there will be maybe up to 100 items listed at a time. Maybe even less. I was more referencing how much items a list would be able to store before I would see some serious performance issues or any other problems but 30 million is a lot.
