Unable to insert objects onto a Crystal Report (v8.5)

This morning I was running Crystal Report 8.5 with no problems.  A few hours later, I was no longer able to insert any new objects (text, database fields, images).  I can however insert lines and box but when I do it looks like it is inserting the line/box with a right edge off the screen to the right - which would explain why I get a "not allowed" symbol (circle with line through it) when I try to insert a text field - it is trying to insert it off my page.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the application so there must be a registry setting somewhere that is messing me up.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Is this happening on the one RPT file you were working with, or new ones, too?

On any report I try to open - from various locations.

Weird.  Old reports are known to go bad, but not all of them.

What's your OS?  Rebooted recently?  Other Crystal related apps installed?  What's your default printer?

Nothing had changed between the time of the issue and that morning when it was working.  No Windows Updates were run, no new apps installed.  I use an HP laptop that we take home every day so the last time it had been restarted was 8am that morning. No other Crystal apps had been installed, my default printer is HP Laserjet 4000 on LPT1. Considering that a line and box object, when inserted onto the page, end up getting placed with a right edge way off the page to the right - there has got to be a setting wrong somewhere.  Considering I've removed and reinstalled several times Friday afternoon, I would think this setting would have to be in the registry though.

My guess would be deleting the user settings in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports.  Export it before you delete it just in case.

Do other objects like database fields get the same result?

Have you ever used this on a system with 2 monitors?

Thank you ever so much - that did the trick and I'm back to work again!
