I would like Image transitions on website without using flash or animated gif's

I have a picture on my website that i would like to transition from one picture to another, and then back again sort of like a power point slide show. However, i want it to repeat the cycle of 3 pictures continuously. Is this possible through coding or will i have to create an animated gif or flash file? I would rather avoid using flash or anything such as that to make the transitions... i found a few on the internet but none worked with chrome.

This javascript slideshow works pretty well:  I use it on several pages and I've noticed others do too.

that looks excellent. i will accept it as a solution, but first would you happen to know how to make this one, or of a seperate one, that can do different transitions? I was thinking of having one that flips the picture upside down to reveal another picture, kind of like turning square tile over to the other side (but smoothly and in place). I hope that made sense. Any idea?

No idea, I just look for things like that on Dynamic Drive and Javascript Kit .   Some of those things are probably better done in Flash.
